Bruce Conner's (dated yet) timeless found aesthetic

Bruce Conner created this film in the style of his early work to accompany the DEVO song Mongoloid in 1978. Conner, the quintessential 1950s west coast beatnik artist, crossed generational divides to integrate himself into the SF punk scene. His collage of 16mm educational films meshed perfectly with the camp aesthetic of DEVO's post-modern robot rock rave-ups.
