USA (born 1941) – sculptor, site-specific artist. He has received BFA
from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1969. Since 1983 he has
worked exclusively in nature with nature, making ephemerical
environmental site installations. For his sculptures he uses local,
found materials, often the reflection of the installations in the water
is a part of the work. Staab has received many grants and commissions
for his site work including New York Foundation for the Arts, a
Japan/American Artist Exchange Creative Artist Fellowship. In 2010 he
was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Museum of Wisconsin
Art and was awarded the ‘Artist of the year’ by the Milwaukee Arts Board
in 2012. He has presented his works at museums or made outdoor
installations in Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Finland, France, Italy,
Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the United States.
They are all made out of sticks!!! Not fancy sticks, but invasive species he removes from areas near the site he is working.
